Still no idea where the alleged alarm siren plug is. But I do have a clue as to how to get the pillars off so I can mount the antenna. I'm thinking I'm gonna do a slowish install. Get one part installed at a time until I have the hard stuff done then put the control unit in. The hard things being the siren and the antenna.
Went to Salem. Helped my dad move fixed the computer. Adaware found around 1300 items on the first run. When I got there windows would hardly run some message about .tmp file causing windows to crash. Cleared the temp folder it wouldnt delete. Headed to safemode uninstalled all sorts of crap and got rid of the temp file. Rebooted. Windows already running much better. Installed ad-aware and Spybot s&d a few times. Resoureces went from 69% from when I was able to check them to 90% after using the tools.
Posted by Ben at September 26, 2004 06:20 PMmy dad's computer makes me wanna cry. it so freaking slow and is basically controled by spyware. its his pc so i wont touch it, but its specs are equel to or greater than my pc's. and my pc is literally 3x faster.
i hate that he doesnt know how to take care of his computer. if he would have taken care of it it would have been fine, but instead he goes out and builds a $2,000+ machine....
i give it 8 months till it too is controlled and fubar-ed
Posted by: dusty on September 26, 2004 06:55 PMask for his old one and make it a file server and automation center for the neb.
Posted by: ben on September 26, 2004 07:19 PMthought about it. he's not giving it up, besides, the neb runs a lot of power as is, it cant handle.....lemme rephrase that, IT CAN HANDLE....but simply doesnt 'need' any more power running through its veins.
besides, wouldnt that be a bandwidth hog?
Posted by: dusty on September 26, 2004 07:46 PMthat all depends on how you configure it.
could get your self the x10 home automation stuff to turn lights off and on and stuff. and only hold files for localuse not internet.
Posted by: ben on September 26, 2004 07:51 PMyeah, i have some nice voice recognition software that could be integrated with that as well.
