I grew up in Salem. I used to think Salem was pretty lame. I moved to Eugene at the end of the Summer in 2003 for a job.
I want to go do something sorta touristy. Something with history and maybe a tour. Tiffany told me of some house a while back I forget and can't ask her cause shes still at work. But I realized I know nothing of the city I live in right now. Other than some guy Named Eugne Skinner founded it.
Salem I knew all sorts of stuff about. Chemawa (sp?) indianas. The former name was Chemeketa. Have some historic stuff the capitol burnt to the ground once and Mission Mill the Gilbert House (takings its name from former Olymic Gold metalist and inventor of the Erector set who was born in Salem.) And the Stern Wheeler. I'm gonna stop there.
Now Eugene has a College and um. That house. What is the historical significance of Eugene? Did it orignaly come with indians that have nearly vanished? Was there big industry and shipping? Where can I go for info of the origins and coming to be of Eugene?
