Seriously WTF?!? Now the oh so wonderfully opressive bigbrother of all things communication says no DSL without land line. Naked DSL as some call it is/was a fairly new option from phone/DSL providers. Now the FCC has decided it's not an option. Why? My guess is some other whiney phone company lobbied them and hung lots of money in front of some fucko to get it done. Bullshit I tell you.
Posted by Ben at March 26, 2005 05:43 PMThat article seems a little more nuanced than that. The case in question means that a state cannot force Telco A to provide DSL to Customer X if Customer X is getting his telephone service from Telco B.
As opposed to, say, having no telephone service at all from the telco but getting DSL through an ISP. Different thing there.
Posted by: The One True b!X on March 26, 2005 05:49 PMthat makes more sense. I can't see the FCC dictating you have to have phone service if you don't want it.
Posted by: Nathan on March 26, 2005 07:04 PMIt could be worse, you could be moving a whole freakin' mile down the street and find out that your local telephone monopoly doesn't have DSL service there..
Sometimes I think Eugene is in the stone age..or maybe it's just Qworst.

No I am fairly sure it is Eugene that is the problem, I mean how long did it take us to even get that Best Buy here?? Eugene could use more electronics stores, Fry's is just too far.
