F-ComShaft

So I got my Cable modem. It works fine. All the lights light up. They blink my computer sees the modem and the connection. Just my ISP has a problem with their registration end of things. So I can get to just one webpage and it says download this crap and run it. So I do. Then it craps out. I call them they say another team/group has to fix it I could take them 24 to 72 hours to do so. So I have cable network to comcast but no internet yet. This only futhers my dislike my ISP. I wish I had another high speed option that was affordable and low latency... Perhaps I will move to get a real ISP again.

I had the same thing happen recently when I replaced my RCA with a motorola.) Just call back another comcast tech. Make sure you power down the modem after they have reregistered it and power it back on. You also must clear DNS ( ipconfig /flushdns ) for it to work properly.

they say my account/registration information is corrupted and another team with a clue and some power has to fix it.

My modem has been power cycled a few times. I got the Scientific Altanta modem.

Same thing happened to me when I got mine.
The guy did a bunch of screwing around and eventually stumbled onto the proper way to fix it(deleting the account and starting over, I think it was).

Make sure they haven't mucked with your proxy settings.

I plan to call each day until it works. Maybe I will call on a daily basis after it's working too. You know play dumb and say things like "it isn't working"... "Yes it's plugged in oh wait it's not hold on" Then get progressivly hard like "I suspect DNS posioning" in your system because of this that and the other thing you don't understand.

I think places like comcrap should have a l2 number for Tech Savey people to call and not have to deal with the minimum wage monkeys that want us to trouble shoot it all over again just for them..... DAMN IT MISS SPEAKEASY!
