I want to take more pictures of more things and work on the craft. The problem is finding the time and money for photo excursions. Chris and I used to have them all the time when we both still lived in salem and worked part time. We knew of cheap and free places to go. Down here I'm not so familar.
I think another problem is a feel a slight stigma or at least a little embarassed wondering around some places with my camera, camera bag, and camera type gear. Sometimes it doesn't matter other times I just don't feel like it. Something I should just do anyways. I've missed a lot of shots because of lasyness.
Posted by Ben at September 01, 2005 09:15 PMI have some of the same problems. I overcome them by taking photography classes from the local community college. It's a great motivator, and a great way to learn. Check out your community college's Community Ed classes...
Posted by: J.D. on September 1, 2005 09:21 PMI have taken a photography at chemeketa commmunity college in Salem. I think I got an A it was a few years ago. I just feel a big strange sometimes in public places with all my gear witch is more than I used to pack around I used to just have my Old Nikon FM 10. Now I got my digital rebel with a coulple extra lenses, filters, tri or monopod etc.
Posted by: ben on September 1, 2005 09:27 PMi have the same issue where sometimes i feel embarassed about taking pictures. it really makes people notice you because they wonder what you're taking a picture of, and they probably think you're a tourist. but most of the time i take the picture anyway, and i'm getting more used to it.
i suppose it's yet another one of those times to ignore what other people are thinking about you, though that's always hard to do.
Posted by: bonnie on September 1, 2005 10:04 PMIt doens't bother me, I get many more positive comments about my equipment than weird looks....
Posted by: Tiffany on September 1, 2005 10:07 PMEmbarrassed? This is Eugene, people dance with trees and poop in the street. I wouldn't worry about it.
Posted by: Nathan on September 2, 2005 06:54 AMif was pooping with the trees in the street i wouldnt because its euguen and everyone would chalk it up to being high on something/mental etc. but doing something semi constructive and creative on my own with all the gear and not being dressed like a tree hugging freak would draw more attention too.
Posted by: ben on September 2, 2005 07:18 AMI'd be willing to bet that if you just start doing it, you will get over it quickly....I know i did.
