It's times like this I almost wish I a) took an electonics course in HS b) still had Alex around. I don't think they would have let me take an electonics course in HS cause I don't think I had the math prereqs. So Alex would be the guy. The guy was insane in mostly good ways. Built robots, could solve complex math problems with a single pencil, program like a machine, and run like the wind. But he is off in So Cal at College, or in Salem.
What prompted this? I want to inferface a yet to be purchased gumstix with my car. Cron jobs for starting it Monday-Friday. Buletooth detecion of phone for unlocking it. Maybe audio over ride on the stereo for when it detects my wireless handsfree in use. Alas I need to find a way to inface with all these things. I have got some ideas but no answers nor all the know how to do all the coding I'd need/want to do. My brain keeps returning to this idea it will stop for a month or two then comes back. So I will mostlikely be persuing this idea in another 4-6 months when the idea comes up again and my bank account can stand it. But it is something I will keep researching until I can do something about it.

Find someone else whom has done it and modify it to fit your needs.
Posted by: dusty on December 11, 2005 11:34 AMI can code.
Just I'm very out of practice and the languages I code are not going to translate well for the platforms I'm thinking about using.
There seem to be some frame works out there already to work from.
Posted by: ben on December 11, 2005 11:38 AMi took an electronics class senior year of high school. i was the only girl in the class. i took it to fufill the physical science requirement (so that i wouldn't have to take chemistry). so now i have a certificate in Basic Electronics. not that i really know much about it.
Posted by: bonnie on December 11, 2005 12:40 PMI would be wanting to interface a computer with at least 1 external device. possibly using opamps, transitors, maybe relays. to controll a device that was not ment to be computer controlled. I just need to figure out how to tell the computer to trigger the opamps, transistors and or relays.
I can simple schematics but I've never done anything with them.
Posted by: ben on December 11, 2005 01:31 PMthats all way over my head.
all i know is i learned all i know about html by viewing the source of others and playing with it.
but html is childs play when it comes to coding, so ill stop myself right there......
