The Days When...

I miss the days where my friends would just show up at my door and we'd go do something. Wether it was Chris, Cat, Joe, Stephanie and Steve, Chris E, or Megan or any assortment of them showing up and dragging me out to go do something. Sometimes I didn't want to but I'd go and often ended up having a good time or at least out of my bedroom in the basement.

But it all kinda stopped or at least slowed way down once I got a real job. Also all but of a couple of the people on the list left Salem, other left the entire state. Then I left the city and pretty much started over. I'm still friends with many of the people on the list but none of them are near and none of us hear a whole lot from eachother.

But these days most everything is planned out usualy by at least a day if not a week. Once in a while just by hours. Rarely less.

I do find my self often making things happen like my randomish trip to the coast last weekend, or trips to Salem the week before. But it's just not the same as having someone else show up and visting and/or going to do something.

Random camping trips planned not but hours or moments before we were loading up in the car and driving to Silver Creek Falls. Other times it was trips to the coffee house cafe or random trips to take pictures, or coast, sometimes even shopping at winco where Chris and I would attempt to roll tuna cans as far accross the store as possible while the others shopped on and we goofed off.

I wonder if it's possible to build relationships like those as an adult. Pretty much everyone I know has a job, many married, some married with a child or children. None of those things are nearly as conducive to random outings and adventures... Or maybe it's just me.

I think that sort of carefree attitude gets ground under in the real world, sad, but true.....

Last time I took a "hell tour" on whim was the summer before I moved down here. Damn, it must be Eugene that does it.
