This one is photographic in nature.
The more time one spends on either side of the camera the more comfortable they will be on the opposite side of the camera lens.
While this may not be true for all people I think it's pretty solid.
Some clarification:
someone who spends a lot of time in front of a lens like a model may not know how to work the camera immediately but they will most likely know how to get their model to do what they want and ways of composing the shot.
Many who spend a lot of time behind the lens end up taking self portraits and some point and just more comfortable around cameras and develop a different relationship with it from the other side.
