So last three days at work we have come in to find the window blinds closed. Sure we just open them back up. But it isn't as easy as it may sound. You see once the blinds are closed the string to re open them is at the top of the window. The top of the window is nine to twelve feet off the ground. The procedure requires a two man team or stick with a hook, which was taken by whom ever puts the windows down.
The procedure involves a spotter/booster and a grabber (me). The spotter/booster gives me a hand by stabilize me while I setup on to the lower window sil and allowing me to push off of their hand with mine to get up right as I have nothing else to push against or stabilize my self with while the blinds are down. Once I'm standing on the lower window sil I reach up with whatever arm is available and grab the ring on the string to raise the blinds and then proceed to jump down to open the blinds.
We have attempted to toss the string onto the top of the drop ceiling to prevent the perpetrators from lowering the blinds again but it didn't work. Today we tried taping and tying one of the strings up so the blinds can't drop as much. We won't know if it worked until tomorrow. If not we have more drastic measures we can resort to.
