One would think one of the largest companys in the world would have better download speeds than 20-80KB a second. Seriously. I'm downloading some junk from IBM for work. It always takes hours.
Here we have a company who has re-invented it self more times than Madonna. Who has outlasted the US government in antitrust lawsuits and SCO as well. Who has come up with innovation after innovation. And they can't manage to let me download a large file faster than 80KiloBytes per second? Really?
In the time it will take me to download a 780MB file I could have pulled down a whole linux distro from a mirror, burned the CD or DVD and stared my install...
One can only assume the files are hosted cluster of 486s with a 10base token ring network connection thats internet access is provided by perhaps an ISDN line or maybe a shared T1... I'm not asking for break neck speeds. I'd be totally fine with with say a modest 160KB per second.
