So I've started to start again. I've started to redesign junknstuff yet again. Partly in honor of the upcoming 2 year birthday of junknstuff.net and partly cause I want to. I've still got a long damn way to go as this is going to be a total rework rather than just a change of look like it was last time. I think it will be a slow process as I still have lots of learning to do and the fact I want to be w3c standards compliant. Minor progess has been made. But as always I want input and ideas on things you'd like to see here and new features, sections, etc... gimme input, please...

So a while back i got my Vaio a new Orinoco 802.11b Wireless card. I've known it works far better than my POS Dlink 802.11b Wireless card. Now I can go out side of the house with it. The D-link would die as soon as i got near the door. Now I wonder what would happen if iwere to replace my POS d-link Access Point with a decent brand. So i'm kinda thrilled about being able to take my laptop outside and have internet. So im a geek. In the mean time I thin i will see what i can do about improving my signal outside by moving stuff around in my room.

3:00pm: Its Offical. D-link makes Shitty products. My access point locked up on me after about 2 min of being in not excelent signal. So I move it back and clean up the minor mess I made experimenting... Anyone want to buy a Older Prism 1 802.11b AccessPoint/Router/3port Switch/PrintServer? for oh say $80? I payed 120 for it...

Haven't been home yet so I havent be able to correct what ever problem there might be. I'm sure its something stupid like a network cord half unpluged. So sometime later today that will be fixed.

Today is Chris' (This link wont work until i fix the problem mentioned above...) Birthday. I'm gonna have to give him an IOU on the b-day gift as I have something like $5 to my name right about now. Which will be until Wednesday AKA: Payday, New Months Eve, April 30th...

Then I have my hosting and Domain renewals coming up damn soon. Again Can't pay until I get paid. Not to mention Mother's day... I fear I'm going to have another super tight on money month. Which sucks total ass. I soo neeed a new job.

Today I'm gonna go with Tiffany and Stephanie to see my mom in the hospital after work at somepoint.

7:15pm: So i had a cord unpluged and my IP address changed on me. I think i got all the stuff worked out...

Why is it every weekend my server seems to go down for a period of time. I don't know its for no appernt reason cause I'm not there but it certinaly seems like it somtimes. So until I get home no movies list or pictures. Not that there are any new pictures as I no longer have one of my primary creative outlets (camera)...

Hopefuly it will be back up later tonight when i get home... I'd work on the movies page but the system that i use to build and test pages is also the server that is down....

I've been getting all kinds of spam lately. Been thinkin about changin my e-mail address. nothing too diffrent. A variant on it or maybe I will just change the pages to not be slightly diffrent than my e-mail address... like the link on this page (ben at junknstuff.net) and have a person correct manualy... or something I dunno. Maybe some other spam fighting methods like filters, blocklists etc.

I missed another posting. But I wasn't home much yesterday and when I was posting wasn't exactly on my mind.

But my Mom's surgery went fine. She will be out in anohter 4-6ish days as to recover etc. The ulcers are cleaned up and non cancerous and shouldn't be comming back as they snipped a nerve or two to prevent it from reoccuring.

I was bad and forgot to call Stephanie before we went to take my mom in to pre-op. She wasn't too happy with me. Even thought she wouldn't have been able to see my mom, as only family was allowed in pre-op. And my cell service sucked in the hospital so i couldnt call, nor did i know if it was ok to even use it in that part of the hospital (I didn't see any kind of sign saying so)...

3 day weekend. Although not for a plesent reason, my Mom's surgery.

On the plus side of things I got to hang out with Stephanie and Beth last night. And tonight I get to hang out with Tiffany and Stephanie which should be fun. or interesting at the very least.

Started listening to Neromancer as an audio book. Much easier than actually reading. And I can do it while I work or take it with me and listen anytime via CD or mp3 player etc.. books arn't quite the flexible.

So I'm playing with the winamp streaming video. AKA Nullsoft TV and I stumble upon simpsons episodes playing. So I can watch the simpsons from work! I doubt I will, too much. I will most likely stick to music from honey in the mornings.

Isn't technology great? I think so. Allowing for things once undreamable. Once inpossible. Only 10 years ago were students at the University of Illinois were developing the 1st webbrowser. Now we can listen to music on demand, watch movies on demand over the internet. Buy things and have them here the next day. The ability to communicate with people on other continents instantly and with out long distants bills. Among many other advances and advantages unavailable 10 years ago...

I am so going home and back to sleep once the end of work comes around. I had to be in at 7 today. I didn't sleep super great. So needless to say my ass is rather well kicked.

Chri's had yesterday off and we ended up at Silvercreek falls and doing some hiking. We figure someplace between 3-6miles of hiking depening on how you read the maps. I think just a little over 3 is what we did. The weather for the hike wasn't the best, which is good cause if it was I would have really wanted a camera along, but i dont have one anymore so oh well. After the hike we sat around in the hot tub for a while. That may what stoped the soreness from getting me today.

Stephanie gets in tomorrow. Thats very exciting and good news. I havent seen her In a long damn time. Sinice last may or june or something like that.

I think Kala gets in tomorrow as well. But not sure as I havent heard from her in a week or so.

I feel like takin a nap and its only 7:50am....

9:00pm: I've been playing with winamp 2.91 and converting and streaming things in its video format. I must say quite impressive. I love those guys at nullsoft... great stuff.

I did the family thing for a couple of hours on Sunday. Then hung out with Chris and Collyn with Tiffany. And watched movies. It was nice to hang out with friends vs the family.

Got more family crap this week, as its my Dads birthday on the 23rd and my mom is going in for surgery on the 25th. And Stephanie and Kala comming into town on the 23rd as well.

I'm just looking forward to the end of this month. Fundage is low, activites are rising, work is boring...

So Easter is tomorrow. Got my self some family crap to do around 1pm tomorrow then its head back home for time with friends.

I've got a cute cat called Caleb crawling/cuddling on me right now. He's got to be one of the best cats I've ever met. I am also quite partial to his owner, Tiffany.

I hope you all have a great easter and weekend. Some of you have long weekends. I don't but thats ok, its not like i work much anyways.

Got a call from Beth last night. That was kinda weird but not bad at all. We were gonna hang out but stuff came up for her. And we will mostlikely end up hanging out within the next couple of weeks when Stephanie is in town. Which I'm quite looking forward to.

But I'm not looking so foward to Sunday family easter stuff, which will be kept short. So we (Tiffany and I) can come up and vist with Collyn. Nor am I looking forward to next friday when my mom gets admitted to the hospital for surgery for her ulsers.

So I decide that I'm gonna get off my slacker ass and take care of a few things. Some of which long overdue in many of your opninions. Only to find its far more expensive than previously thought... So now will have to Cough up 55 extra bucks for something that I've done fine with out for the last 21 years of my life.

Not to mention some of the other shit I'd like to do but really have to figure out how to afford going back to school. Especialy being that the local Community Joke of a College doesn't really offer anything like what I'm looking for. So I'd have to move. I want to move anyways but that besides the point....

Today I get play with my new proxyish mail server. it uses Squirrelmail, webmail for nuts, and several plugins to make it check various other e-mail accounts.

I think I'm going to add some kind of rating system to my movies page. I'll have to think about it some more. Then do something about it.

It's another typical monday for me. that being: extra tired, in slight need of a shower, 1st morning home since friday.

I don't know that any one visits it as is but I'm learning more PHP/MySQL tricks which is reason enough to do it but the other is that its should be done. I've added ratings and IDs to the database tables so I will be doing more with those later on.

howdy howdy folks. hope everyone is having a decent sunday. So far mine is ok. Now that I've been up for all of 10ish minutes.

Went out to Tiffany's parents place last night. Tiffany did laundry, and a free meal as well.

I started seting up a webmail servies on my homeserver. So far its about halfway done. Its mainly so I can still get to ALL my mail from anyplace rathre than have it just sit on my desktop machine after i check it there. I can set my desktop to look at the new server and display the messages if i delete them on my desktop they go away from my server mean while they arn't taking up room on the main mail server of Commcast which only allows 10Mb of e-mail to be stored. Not to mention I'm gonna be using IMAP not POP3. well crap I'm sure none of you care. So I think I'm gonnna go work on that some more. later all.

2:43pm: So i got my new mail proxy server thingy up. I did manage to fuckup and lose the 13 or so messages waiting for me to retrive to my new server. I don't think any were that important. but still annoying. But im excited about my new feature. Its not gonna make a diffrence for any of you (unless you want an account here or something). Now i need some e-mail so i can try it out. So a) e-mail me b) comment (those send e-mail notifcaions) c) i will wait until tomorrow

Wow. I just had one disturbing dream. And prior to that a night full of messed up strangeish little dreams. So I figure get up early and avoid more...

So when I got home to check out my server yesterday it was fine. Perhaps my connection just went down for a shortwhile while i was at work. But the crapy list of movies and movies page as well as people page are back up. I think I'm going to work on the movies page sometime as it's pretty much crap.

I downloaded the Matrix Trailor a couple of days ago. Wow it looks sweet. Getting anxious to see it. But I doubt i will get to see it opening day as every other person in the world plus a few more will be lining up to see it much like those Lord of the Rings Movies, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. Oh well.

Crap. My server got unplugged lastnight. I turned it back on but it doesn't seem that it's back up. So something is wrong and I'm gonna fix that once i get home cause damnit its annoying and does me nooo good, nor any of you for that matter. Cause my movies list is down, the pictures are down, and the peoplepage is down as well...

Tiffany's new camera is really damn fun/neat. I can't wait to have it my self or one of my own...

Yesterday's weather wasn't nearly as nice as the 2 days prior.. Hopefuly we will have a nice weekend...

I'm so ready to be done for the next couple of weeks of work. Hell next couple of months so I can return to regular type hours and make some money to spend and not simply enough to survive off of for a month at a time.

Sold my digital camera yesterday. Well Tiffany did for me anyways. Thats just money towards the camera she just bought, that I am gonna buy from here when shes done with the term as she wants a diffrent camera and this one was more just for the term cause she couldnt quite afford the other one just yet.

It's already strange to not have a camera. I have access to a digital but its lower resolution than mine was. So basicaly don't be expecting many new pictures anytime soon. Perhaps a few here and there. Some lower res. some higher res from My future camera, as I will be able to play with it on the weekends.

And will someone add some sort of comment(s) to the people section. I mean I wanna know if it even works right and what you think etc. and I put it there to be used. But if you don't have anything to say don't.

Wow entry number 256. There should be a couple more from those 2-3 days I've missed/didn't post. But alas here we are at 256. In reality there should be more from previous attempts at this using greymatter and a homebrew thing I tried to use for a little while there. Oh well.

It seems my Scocial Calander is about to get rather busy. Kala comes up this sunday (the 13th) for a week, hopefuly we will get to hang out some durring that week that she is here. Then on the 18th Collyn is coming in to vist for the weekend, then on the 23rd Is my Dad's birthday and Stephanie is coming back to vist from Alaska for 2 weeks. Not to mention my regular weekends in Eugene and other things that I may not know about yet...

Yesterday evening was beautiful. Much better than the day part of yesterday. Calm and not overly cold just a warm enough that long sleeves made it about just right out. Pretty sky over head.

This morning was decent. I'm hoping it shapes up into a beautiful day or at least another great evening.

I read a great article on the Matrix last night in my wired. Prior to reading it i had only been semi excited about it. Its rare that I actually get worked up or plan to see a movie. Well knowing some of the new techniques and tech etc. that have been invented and used for it makes me want to see it more.

again the new people page is done. complete with comment system. I'm starting with the smallerstuff so when I do start work on a more community based pages that I will have a clue and be able to tie in all the smaller pieces to a bigger picture.

I've also started reading cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It is gonna take me a while to finish but so far I like it.

Its 7:47am I've already been at work for an hour now. In preperation for a class that we are starting today. But the instructor has yet to showup for it.

I will most likely be going home around 10:00am then I will shower ,and maybe nap, or maybe read some, perhaps I will finish up the pictures of the people page. It is up its just not all there (a few pictures missing is all). And I have to update the links on the other pages. The Links and Quotes page do go to it just fine though. So if you want to see it go see it but don't complaine that its incomplete...

I've done somemore work on the people page. I am in the process of reimplenting the comment system. Re because I've basicaly rewritten it from stratch concidering my 1st attempt worked but was ugly(layout and code) and not going to be very easy to maintain (the code). But now its nearing compleation, again. I almost feel as if i should add more bells and wistels to it as i've talked about it soo much and may have risen your expectations... But its going up befor nextweekend.

12:42pm: Concider it done. It all works I still have a couple bits in a piece of it to clean up/add. But the people page has full fuction. Minus a few pictures which I will take care of that tomorrow (when im home again).

Unfourturnatly Tiffany's camera didn't work out yesterday. No call from the hookup. Then traffic blew ass! Then we went off and killed lots of times at Fry's in wilisonville and I got a nifty portable harddrive enclosure and Tiffany some stuff for classes like exacto knife and canned air maybe something else but I don't remember.

People page is comming along. Now I just have to finish up the pictures for it. and a coulpe small layout issues. The layout issues I can solve from here and possibly the image pictures but the pictures will be easier from home.

It's here its here. Friday. And Tiffany will be coming up then we are heading to Portland to get her new super Digital Camera. Maybe even catching lunch with Chris depending on how stuff works out. I may not make it that long as I'm hungry now.

So I was poking around online last night and found a page that tells you how to upgrade/modify your apex dvd player. Things like how to change the background image (you know the one that usualy has the makers of the DVD players name and a DVD logo) and even the screen saver (much more difficult to change) and upgrade firmware etc. I don't have an Apex DVD player. But Chris does so I directed him there and he/we proceeded to mod his DVD player. Kind fun. Although I never saw the results as I was building modifyed firmware images for it at home and sending them to Chris. Makes me almost want a cheap dvd player...

Ya the people page is still being worked on. I haven't much been in the mood to work on it this week. But hopefuly today I will work on it some. I think the reason I haven't been in the mood is cause it already needs to be rewritten and cleaned up. Not to mention I am still figuring out what some of the things it should do are and how to do them.

For the 1st time in a long time or maybe 1st time ever a dream affected my mood when i woke up in a negative manner. It wasn't a very good dream, needless to say.

If all goes well tomorrow Tiffany gets her new camera. I may endup with a small item or 2 from Fry's as we will be making a stop by there at some point as well.

The weather has been total CRAP! Cold Rainy And Poopie! I want last weekends weather again...

4:18pm: Made some progress on the people page. Still a ways to go but progess has been made.

Part of me has an itch to go back to do some learning in a school type enviroment. Possibly work towards a 2 year degree of somesort. But I can't afford it or even pretend to, especialy with my present job and situation. I wouldn't even want to go to school here in salem at Chemeketa who also happens to be my employer (and no because i work for them doesnt mean that i get any kind of discount or shit other than a pay check from them). I'd want to go to Lane CC, as they have a good CS program. I guess I will just have to see how long this itch itches me and if its long enough and turns out to really need scratching. I will.

10:46am: I need a new lunch buddy. Now that Chris got a new job in portland. We used to do lunch on a decentltly regular basis. But it's not really an option anymore...

So maybe it wasn't strep cause its gone now. It really felt like strep though. I'm very very very glad it isn't.

So I got a hold of RedHat 9 yesterday. I'm not sure what the advantages over 8 are as of right now. So far I'm not terribly impressed by a couple of the features. And am having trouble getting everything setup properly on the poor sad computer that it happens to be installed on. I'm sure I will eventually adopt RH 9. But I'm still quite partial to 7.3. I belive this is because I'm not using it for desktop use but as a utility/server. 8 and 9 are really geared towards endusers and being on the desktop of homes or corperations/enterpises. 8 and 9 still have everything it takes to be a server and a couple improvements too but none of which excite me as previous releases did.
